Editorial Art -Police conduct

This illustration was designed using Photoshop and Illustrator to create a black and white image of a police officer in riot gear. The positioning of the image and the text adds a dynamic aspect to the page which gives the image depth.

Editorial art - mental illness

This illustration shows a person composed of names of various mental illnesses being ignored by the general public due to the stigma surrounding mental health. This piece won the 2016 New Orleans Press Association 1st place award for Editorial Illustration.

Editorial art -coping with student loss

After the loss of students and a professor the previous semester we decided to write a piece on the importance of approaching the new semester as a unified community. The tree is split down the middle, but new life blooms in the flower growing at the base of the tree.

Magazine insert - Exploration of vampire culture

This magazine insert for The Wolf, a Maroon publication, discusses the subculture of Vampires within New Orleans. Rather than an intricate design, I decided it would be better to keep the artwork simple and to the point so the story could speak for itself.

Editorial photo -
Mardi Gras indians

Mardi Gras Indians are a unique cultural aspect of the New Orleans community who hold surprise parades throughout the year, but primarily during the Mardi Gras season. Using Photoshop I was able to draw the figure forward so he could interact with the text wrap.

Life & Times Photos -
Student bands

The Maroon was fortunate enough to have an excellent photographer take photos at a concert set up by Loyola Music Industry students. The gorgeous photos popped off the page through the use of Photoshop as part of the singers head protrudes from the picture.

Worldview photo -
skate park

This dynamic photo only required a small adjustment in Photoshop to display a little bit of the hair and arm of the skateboarder coming out of the picture near the title of the story.

Photo spread -

NOLA Women's March

Loyola students attended the New Orleans Women's March in January to show support for the cause and photographed some of the protest signs. This photo spread shows some of the most interesting signs present in a clear and eye-catching manner.

Life & Times Photos -
buku festival photos

Buku, a popular music festival in New Orleans, had intense photos to work with for the article. I decided to place the figure of the Buku man independent from his background to emphasize the mouse head. The DJ's electric green glasses and inviting smile added more levity to the page.
